Project 8 - Presentation of your Portfolio

This is to be a very basic assembly of your work completed in GRA 1433. Here is what you are to do for this project:

1. Open InDesign and place PDF files of your Project Work (include Projects 2-7).
2. Check the Syllabus to remind yourself what they are.

3. Give each project a single page.  Use the Page Palette to add pages.  Remember you can drag pages in the Palette to change their order within the InDesign document.

4. Place a Headline/Caption on each page to define what category it is, i.e. Business Card, Advertisement, Magazine Cover, etc.

5.  Add any other text you would like.  Be as creative as you like and have time for in laying out of your work.

6.  Be sure to create a Cover page identifying yourself.

7.  When you are finished export to a PDF  and title the file:  Project 8 Last name first initial

7.  Your presentation should take no longer than 5 minutes and include your introduction of yourself by name, professional goal or aspiration, current Major and then brief description of your work.  And why we, the class, should hire you for our next advertising/public relations campaign.

8.  Be prepared to access your Flash drive and save your both your PDF file and your InDesign Packaged Folder on the desktop of the podium MAC computer.

We will begin at the end of the alphabet and work backwards for presentation order beginning on Tuesday the 21st.

InDesign CS3

Project 7 - Magazine Cover or CD Cover

1.  Search for images that you want to use - Dreamstime,com or iStockPhoto.com.  You can also search Google Images.  For ideas type in key words “magazine cover” or “CD cover” using Google images.

2. As you search - think about your headline and subhead which needs to be placed.  You will also need to put some content as well - so be sure your images relate to the type of cover you are doing.

3. You are to use both Photoshop and Illustrator to modify your images.  Do not use the originals.

4.  You are to use InDesign to produce your final work product.

5.  There should be a Title, Headline and a subhead for your Magazine Cover.

6.  You will need to put Volume and Issue information about your Magazine Cover.  Your CD cover will not need this information.

7.  Your CD cover will need to identify the artist, album Title and one song title.

8.  You will Package/Name your InDesign File according to tutorial/instructions given in class on April 9th.

9.  Project is due April 14th

Look at the following images and then download and save the files you would like to use to your flash drive or desktop (you may also use previously downloaded images):

  1. Create a new document and name it Project 6 and your last name and first inital
  2. You are creating an ad similar in form to the coffee layout
  3. Create a layer for each object that you place.
  4. Create a Headline and a Subhead with Text.
  5. Use Effect - on Headline and/or subhead.
  6. Use Gradient on Text box or image.
  7. Use Clipping path on at least one object.
  8. Insert your personal logo

After tutorial do the InDesign Project 5:

1.  Create layers for each object or group of objects and name.

2.  Modify layout from tutorial - express your own creativity.

3.  Write Headline and place text.

4.  Use drop shadow, feather or gradient or opacity effect on text or box.

5.  Resize personal logo and place in lower left corner.

6. Export InDesign file to PDF named as Proj 5 Last Name First Initial and submit via Flash drive or by email to aellinor@ssnow.com

7. Save to your Portfolio folder.

Download and become familiar with this PowerPoint presentation on using a ruler which you are to view for use in your upcoming assignment Practice on Your Own on Page 100:

The second file is a representation which should help you in completing the project on page 100.

Type your name at the top of the Illustrator file so that you can be graded.  Name the Illustrator file: P100-Your Last Name, First Initial and save to your flash drive.  Be prepared to submit this file by the end of class on February 17th.
